‘Captain’ Marco Reus and Borussia Dortmund’s decade-long romance could now lead to a title.
Dortmund will host Mainz in the final match of the 2022-23 German Bundesliga on Sunday (Sept. 27) at the Zignale Iduna Park in Dortmund, Germany.
Dortmund currently sits atop the table 스포츠토토 with 22 wins, four draws, seven losses, and 70 points, two points ahead of second-place FC Bayern Munich (20 wins, eight draws, five losses, and 68 points).

Since winning the title in 2011-12, Dortmund have always been seen as second best to Munich, but a win against Mainz would end the Bavarians’ run of 10 consecutive titles and put them firmly back at the top of the table, regardless of the outcome of their remaining games.
If Dortmund were to lift the Meisterschaft (Bundesliga trophy), it would be their first with Roy Hodgson. It would also be his first title in his hometown, after more than a decade of sacrifice for Dortmund.
Royce was born and raised in Dortmund, where he played through the youth ranks, but began his professional career at Rottweiss Allen before moving to Borussia München-Gladbach and returning home in 2012.
Dortmund had been losing key players to big clubs at the end of each season. Mario Gotze, Roberto Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and many others have passed through Dortmund on their way to the big clubs. But Reus always stayed on the pitch in a Dortmund jersey, and so a decade passed.
The only thing missing is a championship. Reus still hasn’t won a title in his long professional career. And it had been a long time coming, a moment that would erase six runner-up finishes in 10 seasons.
Royce was calm. In an interview with the club’s official channel, he said: “It’s hard to put into words and we need our fans. Without them, this win would be worth less than half of what it is.” “We haven’t won anything yet. We need to stay calm and turn the chances we have in our hands into results. We will give everything for 90 minutes.”
